# JAZZ AT THE OXFORD — The Oxford Hotel, Bend, Oregon # Fifteen seasons, 2010-11 through 2026-27. Compiled 19 August 2026. Corrected 22 September 2026: Ron Steen Band (27-29 May 2011) added to the 2010-11 season. # # WHY THIS SERIES IS IN THE STUDY # It is the control. A 120-seat hotel ballroom, five artist weekends a season, one talent # buyer, no agency of record. If booking concentration is a structural fact of the circuit # rather than a choice made by the people doing the booking, this series should look like # the festivals. It does not. Every figure here is computed by the same script logic as # Gulf Coast, Catalina and the rest, so the comparison is like-for-like. # # DISCLOSURE THAT MATTERS: from the 2015-16 season onward this series is booked and produced # by Patrick Lamb Productions, and Patrick Lamb performs on it. He is therefore both the buyer # and, in five seasons, a booked artist. That is a conflict of exactly the kind this study # records elsewhere (see @MIGHTY in agent-rosters.txt, where the agent is also the buyer). # It is disclosed here, counted in full, and never netted out. His slot count appears in the # leaderboard like anyone else's. # # SEASON YEAR CONVENTION: seasons straddle two calendar years (October-March). Each is keyed # to its OPENING year, so "2026" is the 15th Annual, October 2026 - March 2027. # # COUNTING RULES — identical to the rest of the study: # One appearance = one artist on one season's bill. Package billings open into the # individuals named. Standing groups count as one. A leader billed with his own named # group counts once, as the leader. # # FORMAT: YEAR | Artist; Artist; Artist # Everything from the first @SECTION header onward is EXCLUDED from counts by design. # # SOURCES: oxfordhotelbend.com season pages via the Wayback Machine (2010-2024 snapshots); # bendticket.com (13th and 14th Annual); jazz-at-the-oxford.turntabletickets.com (15th); # Cascade A&E press release, Sept 2018 (9th); Bend Bulletin, 20 Mar 2015 and 29 Jan 2025. # --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2010 | Mel Brown; Patrick Lamb; Tom Grant; Dan Balmer; Ron Steen Band 2011 | Diane Schuur; Tom Grant; Shelly Rudolph; Jackie Nicole; Mel Brown; Darrell Grant; Brian Blade; Bobby Watson; Michael Allen Harrison; Julianne Johnson 2013 | Javon Jackson; King Louie; Lisa Mann; Andy Stokes; Gordon Lee; Darrell Grant; Ben Darwish; Randy Porter; Arturo O'Farrill; Mary Stallings; Bruce Forman 2014 | King Louie; LaRhonda Steele; Andy Stokes; Lisa Mann; Danny Armstrong; Lao Tizer; Karen Briggs; Gordon Lee; Tom Grant; Ramsey Embick; Mac Potts; Phil Baker; Mel Brown; Randy Brecker; George Colligan; Ada Rovatti; Dan Balmer; Chester Thompson; Soul Vaccination; Diego Figueiredo; Cyrille Aimee; Randy Porter 2015 | Joey DeFrancesco; Bobby Torres; Reggie Houston; Charmaine Neville; Pete Escovedo; Sheila E.; Darrell Grant 2016 | Bernard Purdie; Tuck & Patti; The Bad Plus; Brubeck Brothers; Sara Gazarek; New West Guitar Group 2017 | T.S. The remaining # three slots are unrecovered. Per study rule 2, an incomplete edition is omitted, never # estimated. Recovering the 2012-13 page would add roughly six slots and would very likely # LOWER the freshness figures, since Mel Brown recurs. Left out on purpose. 2012 | Jeremy Pelt; Mel Brown; Tom Scott @NOTHELD | 2020-21 and 2021-22 — no seasons # Two-year COVID hiatus, confirmed by Source Weekly, Nov 2022: "After a two-year hiatus # during the pandemic, Jazz at The Oxford is currently in its 11th year." No bills existed. # These years are absent from the counted block above and must never be read as zero-slot # editions. 2020 | NONE 2021 | NONE @PRODUCERS | who booked which seasons # Seasons 1-5 (2010-2014 opening years) were founded and produced by Marshall Glickman, # CEO of G2 Strategic and a former president of the Portland Trail Blazers. He departed in # March 2015 after the hotel moved to cut the season from six weekends to four. # Seasons 6-15 (2015 onward) are booked and produced by Patrick Lamb Productions. # The tally reports both eras separately. The handover is the natural experiment: same room, # same town, same capacity, different buyer. GLICKMAN | 2010; 2011; 2013; 2014 PLP | 2015; 2016; 2017; 2018; 2019; 2022; 2023; 2024; 2025; 2026 @NOTES | judgement calls, so they can be argued with # "Mel Brown Quartet", "Mel Brown's B-3 Organ Group" and "Mel Brown Septet" are the same # leader with different personnel. Counted once per season as Mel Brown. # "Cow Bop" is Bruce Forman's group. Counted as Bruce Forman, who also appears in 2013 # under his own name. This makes his repeat count HIGHER, not lower. # "Tuck & Patti", "The Bad Plus", "Brubeck Brothers", "New West Guitar Group", # "Soul Vaccination", "The Soul Collective" and "Dear Amy Band" are standing groups, # counted as one each. # "Oregon Piano Summit" (2013) and "Oregon Piano Summit II" (2014) are package billings and # are opened into the pianists named on each bill. # "Patrick Lamb's Charlie Brown Christmas" (Dec 2025) and "Patrick Lamb's Holiday Soul" # (Dec 2026) are sold outside the series pass. They ARE counted, as Patrick Lamb slots, # because excluding them would understate his own presence on his own series. # The 2015 Pete Escovedo / Sheila E. date played the Tower Theatre, not the hotel ballroom. # Counted: it was programmed, promoted and sold as part of the season.
